FAQ
Do you have a refund policy:
We generally do not provide refunds once you have booked the course with us. This is because we have to book and pay for the venue we have chosen in advance as well as the trainers, regardless of whether you or other course participants attend. We are however prepared to (i) allow you to transfer the course to any other individual from your organisation or any private individual of your choice, so long as you notify us at least 24 hours in advance of the course and (ii) allow you to transfer the course fee you have paid to an equivalent course at a later date, so long as you inform us of your decision at least 7 days in advance of the course.
Do I get course materials?
For each of the courses we provide, you will be given handouts
on the day of the course. You will be provided with a lecture handout, as well as
one or two further bundles, mainly case law bundles and general materials bundles
(which include statutory provisions, Immigration Rules, Civil Procedure Rules, Practice
Directions, Immigration Directorate Instructions or Entry Clearance Guidance, etc.).
We will also provide you with case studies and model answers where appropriate.
Do I get a course certificate?
At the end of each course, Immigration Training Direct will provide you with a course attendance certificate. This will be signed by your trainer(s). It will bear you name, date of birth and organisation. It will also set out the date and venue where you were trained, as well as the subject matters taught and the CPD accreditation number of Immigration Training Direct. This is not a qualification, but a record of your attendance at one of our courses.
Does Immigration Training Direct provide exam preparation?
There are organisations which provide model questions and answers and use these as a template in order to provide training, specifically for OISC courses. We do not believe this to be beneficial. This is mainly because we do not believe in making you memorise course materials. We want you to understand them. The best way to make you understand the materials is to teach you properly. Also, we will not be there to hold your hand when you take your exams. All we can do is to impart the knowledge to you. It is up to you to sit and pass your exams. We are however quite willing to answer your questions throughout the duration of the course. Time is allocated for such eventualities within the timetable provided on our web site.
What do I do if I have a complaint?
If you are not happy with any aspect of the course provided, please feel free to discuss this with the trainers immediately. If following your discussions with the trainer(s) you are still not happy, please write to Alexandra Pease at Immigration Training Direct. We undertake to give you a written response to your complaint within 14 days. If you are not happy with the response you receive, you are entitled to have an appeal hearing at which your complaint will be fully discussed. In the event that you do not feel happy with the outcome of that appeal, you are at liberty to contact the Bar Standards Board (BSB) or the Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA) with whom Immigration Training Direct are registered as course providers. They will direct you towards any further steps you might wish to take.
Can I receive updates on the courses provided?
In due course we aim to build up a members’ base so that you can log in, having paid
an annual subscription, and receive per PDF download the latest case law and bulletins
on the various subjects taught by us at Immigration Training Direct. You will also
find that the trainers are more than happy to email you any materials or case law
referred to and not provided on the day of the course taking place.
Can I receive a discount on the courses provided?
The answer is yes. We offer 5% off to those customers who pay the full amount on booking with us, as opposed to the standard terms and conditions. We offer 10% for any one booking for in between 3 – 4 individuals or any one individual who books any combination of up to 2 courses. We offer 15% for anyone booking for 5 individuals or more, or any one individual who books any combination of 3 or more courses. The maximum discount we offer to anyone is 20%.
